IOWA POEMS 175:  POETRY TO OBSERVE IOWA’S 175th BIRTHDAY

Thompson’s poetry has appeared in The Iowan, The Des Moines Register, Harvard Review and other publications throughout the state and nation.   Born and raised in southern Iowa, he enjoys traveling and researching the state in search of ideas and inspiration for poems.  He holds an MFA in Creative Writing/Poetry from New England College and has completed post-graduate coursework in Poetry at the Harvard Creative Writing Program and the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop, both with honors.   Many of his books of poetry have been collected and archived at the State Library of Iowa, the State Historical Library of Iowa, and other literary institutions throughout the state of Iowa.

Thompson currently lives and teaches in central Iowa at the secondary and collegiate level.
